Hello and Welcome Back to Great Chow !
I present to you Apple Walnut Salad in Orange Vanilla Sauce.
Apple Walnut Salad is one of my favorite health foods during the spring, summer and fall. It is loaded with apples, grapes, celery, golden and regular raisins tossed in a vanilla and orange sauce. This recipe is healthy variation a How to make the famous Waldorf Salad. The sauce is comprised of 6 oz vanilla yogurt and a freshly squeezed large navel orange. This salad is more of a chutney with is like a chunky salsa. Like all recipes, it can be customized to your liking. If you do not like celery, just use more grapes! I always view a recipe as a just a tasty guideline and can be revised as you wish.
My apple walnut salad is versatile. I serve this healthy and tasty treat to accompany grilled chicken, fish or seafood. It is fantastic on a bed of baby spinach. Honestly It is one of my favorite ” go to ” treats before or after a workout or just as a guilt free snack during the day. Yes I will eat it straight out of the bowl !
